YAY!! for dirty fingers and toes

William used to be the kid that never got his hands dirty. He would always run to me with his dirty hands and either wipe it on me or cry about it being a mess. He has now learned to ignore it and keep going. He has treated his feet the same way as his hands. If he stepped on something out side he would get upset. So I purposely took him out side with no shoes on. We walked all over the yard. We ended up in the Drive way. Which is mostly Sand and a few rocks / pebbles. I pointed to the rocks for William and I he would run over to it and pick it up and throw it out the way. It was almost like hunting Easter eggs. Except he would throw the rocks. I'll have to adjust that before we actually go Easter egg hunting. Before I knew it he was digging in the sand. He had a ball getting dirty. He had that " Stinky little boy smell too' PHEW ! I got him a Big Plastic spoon and he sat down and scooped the sand up and tossed it over his shoulder. It all reminded me of the time when he was about 15 months old and doing the very same thing.

* I didn't care if he was making a mess then or now. He enjoyed himself and also realized that stuff on your hands and feet aren't going to be the end of the world.

* Also too when Dad and I went to pick him up from school today his teacher told us he played in the sand with the other kids on the playground. A few weeks ago William had no interest in getting in that sand hole that they dug or getting dirty. Now he's a changed boy. We even came home with dirty nails and smelly hair!

(William is just walking past them here. If you didn't know where the hole was you'd miss it. But it is just to the right of William in this picture.)
